Aircraft weighing more than 250g must be registered with the FAA sUAS registry and marked with a registration number. All flying at the airfield is to be done under the FAA Exception for Recreational Flyers. No operations under Part 107 is permitted.
While we are not technically a FRIA, we operate under essentially identical rules via a special Letter of Authorization directly from the FAA. Members and accompanied guests are not required to operate with a Remote Identification Module. Aircraft are still required to be registered under the sUAS FAA Recreational Fliers rule, and appropriate identification affixed to each aircraft flown including Name, AMA Number, sUAS registration number.
It was no small accomplishment to preserve our field when the FAA made plethora rule changes regarding drones and model aircraft, and we have no desire to lose it!
As such, we have a very strict altitude limit of 400' AGL, and a defined flight area which is posted at the field. Don't worry, it's still plenty big enough to fly, and 400' is higher than you probably think!
Pilots are required to obey all current AMA Safety Codes as well as the NCCC Operational Rules.
New members are required to complete a checkride with the current Safety Officer or their Designated Pilot Examiner. All aircraft must be thoroughly preflighted following any repair or non-battery hardware change.
Still want to join after all that? Great!
Complete the application below and either email it to nccloudclippers@gmail.com, bring it out to the field with an airplane, or mail a hard copy to:
