The North County Cloud Clippers enjoy a unique opportunity to fly model aircraft on the grounds of the Paso Robles Airport. With safety as our primary focus, we operate under a special Letter of Authorization from the FAA to fly as close as you can get to the full-sized flyers!

Safety is our Top Priority
Being situated on an active airport comes with a lot of advantages, like real-time weather reports available via radio and telephone, and a 500' stretch of closed taxiway as a runway. It also means that we must ensure the highest standards of safety so as to not interfere with full-sized aircraft operation.
Since none of our aircraft are IFR capable, we are limited to true VFR minimums: 1000' ceilings and 3sm visibility, as reported by the KPRB AWOS at the time of flight. To avoid conflicts with other traffic, we are also limited to a hard flight ceiling of 400' AGL, and all flights are required to have a dedicated, non-flying spotter on the flightline watching for full scale planes.
